Our 21st annual Concert on the Green featuring Fleetwood Mac by Dreams and Neil Young by Roger Potter was a huge success, setting new records for attendance and funds raised. Over 1,600 people attended and our club raised over $41,000 to be used for our charitable programs on Gabriola Island. An enormous THANK YOU to all of our sponsors and to all who attended.

Lions Larry and Sharon and pooches getting ready for the walk.
The weather cooperated to make this years dog walk fun for all. A very special thank you for the tremendous support from Lions Merrilee Wur, Mariam Cochrane, and Joan Ensor as registrars and Lions Sharon and Larry for set up. Our Lions President Betsy Banford greeted all the dog walkers and furry friends and thanked them for their participation . It was also good to see so many Lion members in attendance. There were 22 registered walkers. Several walkers had more than one dog to walk and all was done so quickly with many dogs happily participating in the final play at the ocean’s shore.
We raised $930.00. A very special thank you to the Gabriola Community for making this such a worthwhile event. Thank you to Linda Olsen for initiating this event. More info on the dog walk: HERE. (photo: Lion Jude Briscoe)
On July 7th, 2017 Lions and friends got together to split wood for our Firewood for the Needy program. Logs donated to the Lions had been bucked and stacked and numerous wood splitters were loaned to the club for the task. Many thanks to the friends of the Lions who came out to give us a hand. Here President Betsy and Lion Jon take care of business. (Photos: DB)
