Annually, the Gabriola Lions Club provides funding to the Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation for scholarships for deserving Gabriola students graduating from Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools District high schools. Included are funds from the Joe Brake Memorial Trust and the Bill & Donna Hardstaff Memorial Fund.

In June 2018 Lion Bill Kalbfleisch and Mrs. Donna Hardstaff presented $6,500 in scholarships to the deserving graduates named below.

Caleb Pounds, Maren Bradbrooke and Zephyr Melnyk received Gabriola Lions Club Awards in the amount of $2,000 each
